[therealljidol] Topic 0: Introduction
The happy, normal intro is this:
Hey there, my name is Reid. I live and breathe New York City.

I fancy myself a photographer and have been a professional actor since the age of 10. I have also worked in too many jobs to list here, but it is notable I have a degree in Culinary education which I only really use for friends and family.

I have what might be called an intense passion for the nerd. I love comics, video games, movies, television, music, poetry, books, art, graffiti, and other things pop-culture related. While it might not sound like it I actually do have a life outside of stuff I actually do and I relish it.

The sad, truthful intro is this:
My name is Reid Harris Cooper and I live in the world.

A world where I have a job I have no passion for (but who of us can’t usually say that?), a father who passed on less than a week ago, friends who live far away or have lives that keep them very busy, a mother who is dealing with the loss of her husband, and grief over all the things currently happening in my life.

I get my aggression and sadness out through working out. I am more than overweight, despite what some folks say, but not as bad as what others say. The fact is though that I am and I am serious about doing something about it. My father’s death has made this harder in the last week, but I am going kick my own ass if I don’t work more at it.

I get my distractions from photography. I love street art and I love art and I love this city, even when I hate this city. I absolutely love taking photos and when possible will use photos for a lot of my LJ Idol entries as we move along.

The introspective/lame poetic entry is this:
How does one introduce oneself when they’re rediscovering who they are?

You find me at one of the lowest points in my life.

I am bubble of emotions and turmoil, settling in a haze of confusion. I have been broken by the trials of life, but seek to burn bright and be reborn like a phoenix devouring people, life, love, and creativity in my wake, but not in a destruction state, but in an assimilation.

Through words and photos and exploration I hope to find the new, rediscover the old and hold onto the past and I make a path for the future. I’ll be happy to have you there with me.

The if I was a super geek nerd who everyone would hate, including myself (Man I hate this guy SO MUCH, I want to fucking kill him) intro is this:
OH HAI, Internets, how u are? I good. You like LOLCATZ? I don’t... but you know all your base still belong to me. ROTFLOLFUBBQFTW!

I be [info]lordrexfear... you be everyone else. HAHA! Indy Jones is gay, Han Solo shot first...

Best Comic = Ultimate Batman and Robin meets Spider-man! HAHA! Trick you, that no real comics!

I go play game now... BYE BYE!

(explanation: I am never and never will be this person... but it's scary to me knowing someone like this does exist!)

The psychotic wrestling like promo intro is this:
Hello... and welcome. I am life... I am death. I am everything. You have come to me to be with me and that is why you are here. Now that you are here, you may never leave.

Many a path I have followed, many a path I have been, but all end at the same place, the beginning of the end. Look in my eyes and you shall see that when you are face to face, you become nothing. I am the destiny, I control the vertical, I control the horizontal, I control your soul and from this day forward, nothing... nothing will ever be the same.

(explanation: I want to be this guy so badly sometimes)

And the simplest intro is this:
Hi there, I’m Reid. I like stuff. I write about my life and other stuff and enjoy meeting and making friends. My life has been very troubled lately and I look forward to LJ Idol adding some type of fun.

It scares me too! It scares me that somewhere out there, that person exists. I'm so glad he isn't me... I'd commit suicide!

Glad you like the others... I await with anticipation, reaction to this... (you realize reaction to it will be heavy in my head of where/how I proceed)...

Nifty intro! When you say "professional actor", do you do mostly stagework, or have you been on TV or in movies?

I've been in two national commercials, a smattering or work on television and a bunch of work in film as an extra, stand in and/or production. I've had my SAG card since I was 10.

and Sure...I'm not that dude. I hate that dude! (although I can take or leave LOLCatz... but I can take or leave MOST internet love stuff)

I'm here for the kilts!

I'm an official inspector, you know.

Or perhaps you don't know. Hiya. :)

I liked this intro a lot. After all, I think everyone is like a prism with many facets. I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. I just learned yesterday of a friend/guildmate's death, and it hit me because I realized it had been a damn long time since anyone I knew had died. It's a different feeling than my work, which surround me with death and dying every day.

Good luck with LJI, I look forward to more of your musings.

I have to admit, it was your photo/icon which attracted my attention first...so skillfully taken. Did you do that?

Yes, I did take my icon photo. I do self portraits of myself a lot, but people really seemed to like this one in particular and it was suggested for iconage... so how can I resist?

You can see all my photos (I add new ones all the time) here:'

I like your intro. It reminds me some of mine, but maybe just because I want it to. I'm awfully sorry about your loss. I just lost my mom, and we're all still in the shocked-rediscovery-grieving place. It's hard. It's one of the reasons I signed up for this, actually. (My writing hasn't been that good and I've neglected friends and life and stuff).

Anyway, didn't mean to dump on your post here. Just wanted to say I feel you, brother.

What I hate about NYC more than anything?

The tourists! You can't hit on them, because if you fall in love... booooooo....hehehe ;)

and other than they just get in the way.

The only tourists I approve of are street artists, because they make the city better. (like this icon... it's art by street Artist Space Invader. He's from Europe... he makes NYC much better!)

That sound you hear is a man half a country away busily assembling amusing pictures of cats with witty, syntactically unlikely captions for delivery at random intervals.

Or not, but your "oh dear god no" intro gave me a chuckle.

I don't know you yet, but I'm sorry for your family's loss. As for the identity thing, keep working at it, man. You'll get it.
