Looking at Comics Solicitations for February
Things that caught my eye or that I am excited for. I rewrote some of the solicit details in terms writer/artist to be easier read.

I'll lj-cut this... it's DC, MARVEL and DARK HORSE. The one thing I won't LJ-Cut is this:

FROM DC COMICS

SHOWCASE PRESENTS: BOOSTER GOLD VOL. 1 TP
Written and drawn by Dan Jurgens, plus Action Comics by Byrne.
Witness the 1980s adventures of the time-traveling Booster Gold in this action-packed Showcase edition collecting BOOSTER GOLD #1-25, and ACTION COMICS #594! Over 600 pages of comics for less than $17 bucks!

All 25 issues of Dan Jurgens classic book including the crossover between 22 and 23 from Action Comics. Once again solict itself makes me laugh, but it is all 25 issues +1 which were all written and pencilled by Jurgens, cept that issue of Action written and pencilled and half inked by Byrne. It'll probably be discounted, so at like I'm guessing $12, it'll be cheaper or at least the same cost from a comic shop and then that's actually finding ALL 25 issues in one sitting.

TINY TITANS #1
Written and drawn by Art Baltazar & Franco
Awwww yeah, Titans! Join us for the exciting first issue of Tiny Titans written and drawn by the amazing Art Baltazar and Franco! See what life is like at Sidekick Elementary and meet the new staff! The men that have brought us Cray Babies, Weirdsville and Wolf-Boy comes Titans...cute little Titans. I can just think of the theme now.

Tiny Titans, When there's trouble, you know who to call
Tiny Titans, from our tower, we can see it all

Robin: When the world is in trouble and you don't think you're safe

Starfire: Just call us on and here we'll come to save the day!

Beast Boy: Beast Boy dance!
Cyborg: I'm half computer!
Speedy: My arrows cut through the air!

Cyborg: Also I invent things!
Beast Boy: Me me me meee!

Everyone: Yes, Slade...TITANS GO!

ACTION COMICS ANNUAL #11
Written by Geoff Johns & Richard Donner
Art and cover by Adam Kubert
The extra-length conclusion to "Last Son" is here! Superman and the new Superman Revenge Squad — Lex Luthor, Bizarro, the Parasite and Metallo — take on General Zod, Ursa and Non in a battle for Metropolis, the future of Krypton and Christopher Kent!

Sure it's months later and barely matters at this point but somehow I just feel it's going to be worth it and awesome. Wonder Woman Annual was pretty damn good concluding the that "Who is Wonder Woman?" story and I think this will be even better

And from MARVEL:
SPIDER-MAN FAMILY #7
Written by TODD DEZAGO & MARK WAID
Art & Cover by KARL KESEL
The Looter! This guy found a meteorite that gave him enhanced speed and strength, and the misconception that he's a genius (he's actually dumber than dirt). So WHY is he such a pain to Spidey and the FF??? Well, obviously it…oh, wait. I can't tell you why. Read and find out!
This special issue is brought to you by Mr. Kesel, DeZago and Waid, who take you on an adventure that spans their buddy Mike Wieringo's favorite places in the Marvel U! We miss ya, Mike! Also featuring classic tales and Spider-Man J!

Bittersweet, but very nice and the kind of thing I'll look forward too. Not every issue of Spider-Man Family is gold, but I can't see how this can miss. I wish it was just the main story and the back up. The classic stories and the Manga Spidey both are just eh and not worth the cost.

CLANDESTINE #1 (of 5)
Written and drawn byALAN DAVIS
Alan Davis' freaky family returns! They've existed, hidden among mankind for centuries, a mysterious bloodline of superhumans, eternal and apart. And all they've desired is to be left alone, to pursue their individual interests in peace. But now, the existence of their hidden clan is threatened with exposure by the activities of one of their youngest siblings, Rory Destine, who aspires to be the costumed crimefighter called the Crimson Crusader! And now that the cat's been let out of the bag, who or what is going to come calling at the Destine family's Ravenscroft doorway?

What needs to be said? It's one of the coolest concepts ever finally coming back. The first time around it sucked that it ended, so coming back in anyway is awesome!

MARVEL ADVENTURES FANTASTIC FOUR #33
Written by PAUL TOBIN
Penciled by DAVID HAHN
Cover by TOM GRUMMETT
It's all fun and games when Ben tells a group of schoolchildren a rather fanciful account of a battle against the Rhino, but when the real life Abomination shows up, things turn deadly serious for the Fantastic Four.

I wouldn't pay attention to this, but such as when Leonard Kirk was doing the MA Avengers and Pop Mhan was on MA Spidey it's hard to ignore David Hahn doing the Fantastic Four.

DEAD OF NIGHT FEATURING MAN-THING #1 (of 4)
Written by ROBERTO AGUIRRE-SACASA
Art by KANO
Cover by KAARE ANDREWS
Biochemist Ted Sallis and his team are on a mission: To recreate the serum that spawned the world's first super-soldier. But like the swamp itself, there are dangers lurking beneath the surface...Ted's partner Eric, his girlfriend Ellen, the government, terrorists...everyone wants what Ted has, but what Ted doesn't realize is...the swamp itself may want him! A radical re-imagining of the Man-Thing's origin begins here, in a horror-tinged tale narrated by Digger, keeper of the Tower of Shadows!

Sure, it's a reboot... but it's Aguirre-Sacasa, one of the most intriduing writers in recent time who has an end of the Marvel Universe story that's almost or as equally good as Dan Slott's. Hopefully we'll see both of those one day. In the mean time, Man-Thing, he who knows his touch knows fear with art by Kano is pretty hard to resist.

KICK-ASS #1
Written by MARK MILLAR
Pencils & Cover by JOHN ROMITA JR.
The greatest super hero comic of all-time is finally here. WOLVERINE: ENEMY OF THE STATE's team of MARK MILLAR (CIVIL WAR) and JOHN ROMITA JR. (WORLD WAR HULK) reunite for the best new book of the 21st century. Have you ever wanted to be a super hero? Dreamed of donning a mask and just heading outside to some kick-ass? Well, this is the book for you--the comic that starts where other super hero books draw the line. KICK-ASS is realistic super heroes taken to the next level. Miss out and you're an idiot!

Okay, the name of the book is retarded... Millar is totally hit or miss, JRJR should concentrate all his energies on one book, but I guess all he has now that WWH is over is this and his every 4 months three issues of Spidey, so in a way he is. I also hate that "Miss out and you're an idiot!" tagline. They did the same kind of stuff with NextWAVE and then I read NextWAVE later on and was like "Um... it's okay, I guess", but something about KICK-ASS calls to me.

From DARK HORSE:
CHICKENHARE VOLUME 2: FIRE IN THE HOLE
CHRIS GRINE (W/A)

Things are going from bad to worse for our feathered and furry friend Chickenhare and his partner in hijinks Abe! Their narrow escape from the evil taxidermist Klaus is going to seem like a cakewalk compared to the dangers they'll face in the sequel to the Eisner- nominated graphic novel, Chickenhare: The House of Klaus.

Magic and mayhem are about to collide, along with some pointy pitchforks, a few unexpected relatives, and more laughs than a barrel full of wet shromph as the Chickenhare and Abe learn the origins of their mysterious fellow escapees Meg and Banjo--and what this means to our friends is nothing but trouble!

Dude, the first Volume of Chickenhare was awesome, and I mean totally fucking awesome! Just go read Chris Grine's Blog. It speaks for itself and then tell me you don't want Volume 2 and Volume 1 too, if you never saw Volume 1.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED

HADEN BLACKMAN (W), BRIAN CHING (A), and DAVID ROSS (A)

On sale Apr 2
FC, 104 pages
$17.95
TPB, 7" x 10"

LucasArts' game The Force Unleashed, is poised to be the Star Wars event of the year. The game-play promises to be stunning, but we think it's the story that will blow you away.

Revealed here are the origins of Darth Vader's secret apprentice, the deadly missions on which he was sent to track down and destroy Jedi, and the awesome decision he is forced to make that will, literally, change the way you look at the Star Wars saga!

Scripted by the game's author, Haden Blackman, this graphic novel can be enjoyed alone, or as a companion to the amazing new game.

Okay so this is super pre-solicited. Shipping April, but you need to order it in Feb? Fuck you Dark Horse. Not sure which is worse. That or when I pre-ordered my Jimbo vinyl doll way back in like...June or July, and that doesn't come out till December!

Still the game looks awesome and even though I have no clue when I'll ever get to play it. (Someone wanna buy me an X-Box 360? Anyone?) knowing that it's adapted by the game's writer himself with art from two of the best Star Wars artists around makes me want this GN.
