Neckface is terrifying!
UNOFFICIAL entry for Topic #2 of [info]therealljidol

large statuelike bloody handscoming through the wall

At Dactyl in downtown Manhattan is a display of prolific street artist/graffiti artist NECK FACE. This is some of his most creative and daring work, but it is also creepy and scary and highly terrifying. Neckface is a strange strange man, with some strange strange interests. He has turned these interest towards developing art that will both intrigue and horrify. More scarily, the work is not inspired by horror films, but from true horror and depictions of human cruelty in the form of Mexican snuff films and tabloid photography. He has translated these images to his indelible and very recognizable art style to create an installation and paintings that will make you feel like you never wanted to and never want to again.

ENTER THE WORLD of NECK FACE'S CLOSED CASKET:

mechanical bat with glowing eyes

painting of women hanging upside, heads cut off

large statue cartoonish figures hanging by the neck, three men, woman and baby still on umbilical cord

closeup of mother and baby

and what the gallery owner thinks is the piece de la resistance:
painting of a blind man shitting in a woman's mouth

I found the last image the most horrific. Weird.

Hangings and chopped off heads don't phase me, but the defecation image made me want to vomit.

Terrifying vomit right?

The fact that there are these fetishes and deviations actually terrify me a lot.

I've seen his tag in many places around the city. Now I know.

I rather like that first one. Wouldn't mind it in my home.

I think the hands are still unsold and go for like $6K?

The gallery is over on Grand St. between W. Broadway & Wooster on the North Side.

It's #64. You might almost miss it if you don't pay attention.

Have you only seen his tag?
Here's a link to the flickr set I've taken of some of his street stuff, including some huge impressive stuff:

I don't think I am terrified... I think I am horrified... *shudder* (though I admit the hands through the wall is pretty evocative)

Neck Face is an interesting artist of horrifying depths indeed.

The hands are killer.

I wanted the bat. It's $3000.

That's wild. My boyfriend and I have seen his tags for years, and one of our favorite around-the-house insults is, "You nasty neckface!"

Those are insanely creepy.

The dude gets around too. He's hit up almost all of the US, Japan, Australia... He does work for Vans and Stussy, so money seems to be no problem.
