Honestly, I understand what he saying... it's HOW he worded it is the problem.

Doesn't victim imply that something is done *to* you? If I trip over my own feet, I don't think that makes me victim of gravity...

its about depression as a disease, and you ultimately die of it, because of suicide. makes perfect sense to me.

I stated above in another comment I understood what he MEANT, but it's not exactly what he said. His wording was horrible and if overheard casually in the way he said, it really sounds like "What?"

You were not a victim of suicide... you were a victim of mental disease which lead to suicide, but to say a victim of suicide, it sounds dumb.

Suicide is a personal choice and you cannot fall victim to personal choice. You can, however, fall victim to depression which can lead to suicide. I suspect that is what was meant.

Yes, that is true. Meaning something and saying something is another fact all together. Especially when casually batted about on day time television.
