Dan Slott, The Newest in Kings of Comics (NOT just Comedy!)

Part of the Slottapalooza tour took place Wednesday at Jim Hanley's Universe. Between work, needed relaxation at home, dinner and transportation I wasn't able to get there till 7:30 PM just about after all the fans had probably dropped by and said hello, but that also meant I got Dan pretty much all to myself and we had an extremely lively conversation. Some of it I can talk ad-nauseum about and one thing about of utmost respect I can only basically HINT at, but man... if you knew what I know (and Tom Breevort) you'd be salivating (that is if you gave a damn about MARVEL comics [who Dan is currently an exclusive to, so no funny Captain Carrot done right in DC or whatever insanity Slott would work on, probably a new Blue Devil solo book or something just as wacky])!
Sadly, Big Max one-shot which was drawn by James Fry & Andre Pepoy and published by MR Comics was not out yet because of printing problems and Mr. Fry wasn't able to make it either (so no Monkeys fighting sketch for me), but his enthusiasm for the project is amazing. If Big Max does well enough, he has other stuff in the cylinder ready to go, which he won't be able to script, but he can consult on and James Fry could take over. So, if you want BIG MONKEY MADNESS ala Dan Slott, BUY BUY BUY Big Max! There's even a short story that Ty Templeton inked and who wouldn't LOVE to see BIG MONKEY by Slott and Ty?
As excited by BIG MAX Dan is, he seems much more excited and impressed by a book he had NOTHING to do with, other than sharing MR Comics as a publisher and that would be HOVERBOY by Marcus Moore. The website has "fake" covers from comics dating back to the 20's, "fake" movie stills, "fake" cartoons... ALL relating to HOVERBOY. I only hope Marcus final product will be as amazing as exciting, but how could it not be?!
Dan also let me in that GLX would be appearing in THING and/or She-Hulk shortly. He also has another GLX One-shot concept, so hopefully that'll happen.
The hush-hush? Well, let's just say... aliens, gods, awesome, brilliant, cooler than anything currently happening in the MU and totally sweet! Cross your fingers that this one happens, because Dan's idea are always fleshed out and this is IMHO the best one yet.
I also can't wait to see what serious book he tries to tackle.
Speaking of COMICS, if you live in NYC, hopefully I'll see you down at Hanley's for Project Superior or the Parkside Lounge for
act_i_vate tonight, despite the ugly rain. I'm not going to let it stop me and neither should you! If it does though or you don't live in NYC, the report will get done... well... when I can, got lots going on these days.
